Hello, my name is Mary Jo Foster and I am the Administrative Director for Sharetrails.org. I have been part of the organization since Clark Collins hired me in April of 1998. In my job, I am responsible for making sure everything at the office runs smoothly so that my co-workers can focus on their jobs, I supervise Barbara, our Non-Profit Specialist, and Leslie, our Bookkeeper, and I take care of the paperwork that allows us to receive donations through Third Parties, like United Way, Boeing, and many others, and, a lot of other routine stuff.   But my original, and still favorite, job is as Membership Manger. I manage the member database, make sure donations and memberships are entered or updated and membership packets and thank you Letters are mailed out. If you have a question about your membership, I can give you an answer!

But what I really want to tell you about is the Something Big in Membership. With all the other changes we are making here at Sharetrails.Org, we decided it was time to review our membership structure and try to tailor it for a better fit for our members.

Some of you may have noticed a new “Premium” ($250 per year) category, for our Business and Organization members, this new category has all the benefits of our traditional Business and Organization memberships ($100 per year) but adds some increased tangible benefits, such as extra copies of the magazine for your officers or employees, 25% off of advertising in our magazine and identification as a premium member on our website list.

But when it comes to our Individual memberships the reverse is true, the “Premium” ($30) membership is the traditional membership you are already familiar with. So what is the big change there?  We have added a “no-frills” Basic Individual Membership for $20 per year. With this membership, you receive only a membership card, voting rights and a digital subscription to the BlueRibbon Magazine. We will be phasing in this new category as we roll out the new website and continue to update our renewal notices. Don’t want a paper copy of the magazine, want more of your money to count as a tax-deductible donation? This may be the membership for you!

However, please remember that regardless of the tangible membership benefits available at each level, the most important membership benefits are the intangible ones. For example, knowledge. When your family or friends are talking about a possible closure, you have the information on what to do and where to look for help and you have the knowledge that you are already helping to make a difference with your membership. Because without your membership, there is no Sharetrails.org.
