Dear Friends,

Trail closures cost dealers, outfitters, aftermarket companies and local economies billions of dollars a year in lost revenue. (The Powersports Market is a $40 billion a year market and major boon to the economy, particularly in rural America).

This is why the BlueRibbon Coalition has aggressively fought for trail access for over 30 years. Our mission is to defend your right to make a living doing what you love, and as riders, we appreciate your efforts.

In the past we’ve been involved in recreation access’ most significant legal battles. Including:

  • Winning a 9-0 decision before the US Supreme Court in Norton v. SUWA. This win has provided BRC and other groups with the legal firepower to keep more and more trails open both for winter and summer sports.
  • Settled a lawsuit with Wyoming riders against the USFS that re-opened Trail 38 in the Bighorn National Forest.
  • Defending OSV access in Yellowstone since 1997, including the 2015 Adaptive Management process.

We anticipate the future will require significantly more aggressive legal and legislative work to keep current trails open and to open more trails. This occupies almost every hour of every day for both our staff, team of volunteers and partners.

Over the past 3 months we’ve met with hundreds of dealerships and groups. We listened to you. We know how disastrous trail closures can be for local communities and the businesses that rely on recreation/OHV access.

With that in mind we are working to create a Nationwide OHV Business Program. Some of the services you’ve asked for include legal defense of trail closures closer to your homes, policy and legislative lobbying in your home state, advocacy and legal training and organizing help. Our proposal would include all of the above “including legal help with access issues” and an aggressive lobbying effort for your individual issues, but we need your help to make this program work. To start, we need your input.

Would you be willing to take a quick 4 question survey? If yes click HERE.

Those that oppose OHV recreation are highly funded and very well organized. We can’t wait any longer to get united as an advocacy and business community. If not, we may lose everything we love- and the way we support our families and friends.

Sincerely,
