WASHINGTON – Submit Comments on Road Usage Charge Plan

WA-RUC-Alert-image-11.15.19

Today, November 15, 2019, is the deadline to comment on Washington State Transportation Commission’s preliminary recommendations on the Washington Road Usage Charge.

For background, the Transportation Commission is studying replacing a gas tax with a charge based on mileage driven. The Commission is currently accepting comments on their recommendations. The current gas tax allocates funding for NOVA – a program designed to protect recreational roads and trails. The recommendations for the Road Usage Charge do not address what would happen to the NOVA fund if the gas tax was replaced.

In your comment you can request that the Commission ensure that funding sources of Off-highway uses should not be jeopardized by the change in tax revenue collection methods.

Thanks in advance and, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact ST/BRC.
